Atwater Kent 944. The 944 was one of the last models made by Atwater Kent before he closed down the factory. Offered as a low cost radio during the depression, the radio had a four-tube regenerative design. These regenerative circuits were used as a detector rather than an IF stage. They were prone to feedback, so a unique alignment adjustment was installed on the back of the chassis to dial out any oscillation. We replaced all of the capacitors with modern equivalents. The resistors and tubes were all checked and replaced where needed. A new power cord, safety fuse and antenna lead were installed. I can't say enough about Gary's masterful refinish. He stripped off all the old finish and using the highest quality products ended up with a gorgeous semi-gloss satin finish. There are a handful of guys in America that know how to do radio cabinet refinishing and Gary one of them! The original knobs, chassis, 8-inch speaker, and grille cloth are with the radio. This unique "mini-cathedral" radio is ready for your collection...and not one you see very often in this condition. 14-1/2"H x 12"W x 8"D. E-mail: steveadams1949@att.net 205-555-5555 $555.00.
